TheatreworksUSA, a professional, not-for-profit theatre company, will present the musical about teamwork and friendship (imaginary and otherwise) at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at the Lewisburg High School auditorium.

The 60-minute musical is recommended for audiences age 4 and up, but all ages are welcome.

It is a free show, but space is limited, so admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

This musical introduces the latest and greatest in the grand tradition of crime-solving detectives like Sherlock Holmes, Nero Wolfe and Charlie Chan…Nate! Nate the Great,

This pint-size young detective has found lost balloons, books, slippers, chickens, and even a lost goldfish. But when his neighbor Annie asks for help in locating her missing painting, it takes all of Nate’s derring-do to solve the toughest case of his career.

Although Nate believes that great detectives work alone, he finds that unraveling mysteries is easier (and a lot more fun!) with a partner. And a big plate of pancakes! TheatreworksUSA’s goal is to create imaginative shows that are educational, entertaining, and thought-provoking. It has the distinction of being the only children’s theatre company that has won both a Drama Desk and a Lucille Lortel Award from New York’s theatre critics. Since 1961 TheatreworksUSA has performed for approximately 72 million people in 49 states, with an annual audience of over 4 million.

Target is the national tour sponsor of this production. Locally, this performance is being sponsored in part by a grant from the Union County Community Foundation. The Lewisburg Arts Council is also partnering with the Public Library for Union County, the Herr Memorial Library, and the West End Library to bring the whole Nate the Great series of books to kids in the community. Kids can check out the books — and ask your librarian about Nate the Great programs!

1. Judging Date: Thursday, April 22nd

2. Entry Delivery Dates: Tuesday, April 13 – Tuesday, April 20th (an additional $10 late entrance fee if delivered Wednesday or Thursday)

3. Maximum Size Prints – 8×12

4. Prints must be Mounted and/or Matted – No frames will be accepted this year

5. Lewisburg Studio is offering custom image printing, mounting, and matting services for your convenience – please call them for more information – prices, etc.

6. Custom Printing – Images must be received by Tuesday, March 30th

7. Custom Mounting and/or Matting – Printed images must be received by Tuesday, April 6th Tuesday, or Tuesday March 30 for custom ordered mats.

RULES AND ENTRY INFORMATION

Eligibility

• Must be an amateur photographer. (You may not have derived any income from the sale of photographs.)
• The photographer must be the actual sole creator of the photograph (without any direct supervision from an instructor).

Requirements

• Size – Prints may not be larger than 8×12. (new)
• Multiple images may be within the overall print area.
• All entries should be mounted and/or matted. Do Not Frame. NEW for this year!
• Hangers – Photographs must have sturdy hanger on back.
• No signature or other way of identifying the artist on the front of the print, mat, or frame.
• Number – Photographers may enter up to 5 photographs – and may enter more than 1 in any category.
• Label – Each entry must must have the label fully filled out and attached to the back of the print.
• $10 entry fee.

Classifications and Categories

• Five classes: Amateur, Advanced Amateur, Student (K-4th)/Student (5-8th) and Student (9-12th) .
• 5 Categories:
  • People
  • Places
  • Pets/Animals
  • Things
  • Computer Manipulation.
• Judges’ consensus may change the classification of Amateur or Advanced Amateur entries.

Schedule and Deadlines

• Deliver Photographs to The Lewisburg Studio between Tuesday, April 13th and no later than 5:00 on Tuesday, April 20th.
• Late Entries Wednesday, April 2st and Thursday, April 22nd will be charged $20.
• Judging will occur on Thursday evening, April 22nd.
• Awards Ceremny – on Friday, April 23rd at 8 pm at the awards reception at Lewisburg Studio.
• The Exhibit will be hung for one week – Friday, April 23rd- Thursday, April 29th.
• Pick up Prints Friday, April 30th through Friday, May 7. (Lewisburg Studio is closed on Mondays).
  Awards
• Photographs will be judged by a panel of artists and photographers. Judging will be based on the following criteria: impact , composition, creativity, technical quality, and presentation. Judges reserve the right to categorize prints as amateur or advanced amateur. They may also recategorize prints based on subject matter of the print. Judges may also disqualify any prints deemed offensive. Ribbons will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners in each category. Honorable mention ribbons may also be awarded. Gift Certificates will be awarded to the

Overall Top three entries.

• Best of Show: $100 Gift Certificate
• 2nd Overall Prize: $75 Gift Certificate
• 3rd Overall Prize: $50 Gift Certificate

Exhibition

The Photography Contest will be exhibited in the Gallery of The Lewisburg Studio, 425 Market St. Lewisburg. All winning entries will be displayed and as many of the other entries will be displayed as room allows at the discretion of the judges.
