Changes to the Organization

At the January meeting, the members present approved a new set of bylaws for the Arts Council – the first in 40 years. We are very lucky to have Simonne Roy, an artist and an attorney, to help guide the process. What these new bylaws also give us is a slightly new structure. There is a Board of Directors, each with two-year terms, and five standing committees: Membership, PR, Entertainment, Fundraising, and a new Artists’ Guild. All the events that the Arts Council runs each year will have its own committee as well – including the Arts Festival, and everything we do will fall under somebody’s committee.

We are now working to fill in all the committee slots, so don’t be surprised if you get a call! Actually we have a new set of committee “job descriptions” that we can send out to anyone interested in helping out – it’s a great way to see where your interests might best dovetail with the Arts Council’s needs.

Board Members

Connie Timm – President

Bridgette Thompson – Vice President

Jennifer Blanchard – Treasurer

Marcia Milne – Secretary

Sara Kelley – Past President

Directors:

Barbara Baker
Nancy Crook
Della Hutchison
Simonne Roy

Royal Benson has been winning over audiences with their original groove rock since early 2007. They have delighted crowds from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh to New York City and everywhere in between! Infusing funk, jam and rock influences with modern power pop sensibilities, Royal Benson crafts interesting, dance-inducing, feel-great original music that keeps you coming back for more! Visit them online at www.royalbensonmusic.com.

The Folk Justice Band features an eclectic variety of music spanning the Kingston Trio to the Moody Blues and current favorites. Members include Leo Armbruster, guitar and vocals, Glenn Crook, lead guitar, vocals and harp, Brian Gockley, guitar and vocals, Will Rivera, drums, percussion and vocals and Geoff Schneider, bass guitar. Their tight harmonies and fresh arrangements of ballads, folk, and classic rock, quickly get the audience involved. Check them out at www.folkjusticeband.com.

Formed in the fall of 2009, Pa. Crude is a classic rock/blues band based right here in Central Pennsylvania. In the short time they have been together, they have established themselves as one of the area’s premier live acts and released two CDs. Their first is a self recorded/produced disc of classic blues covers, aptly named Premium Blues. The second, Under the Wrecking Ball, is an all original effort with all the band members sharing songwriting credit. Consisting of Scott Bachman on guitars, harmonica and background vocals; John Erdley, drums and vocals; Leo Keenan, keyboards, rhythm guitar and vocals and Bruce Bozyk bass guitar and vocals, they stir up a variety of musical styles into a fine gumbo that’s all Pa.
